2023 In Review

What a year 2023 was for me personally and professionally! Katharine and I have planned exciting surprises and communication for the start of 2024.

(Hint: make sure you are on our mailing list because these surprises include monthly giveaways!)

Before we jump into what’s to come, here’s a “Year in Pictures” review of where we have been. An artist’s creativity is driven by her experiences and these were the moments and highlights that shaped my art. I’m grateful you are here.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

All my best,

Amy

Inspiring travel to Italy with family and NYC with my team! Our Italy trip inspired a commission we installed in January entitled “Lights on the Grand Canal I and II” (see below). And Monet, oh Monet, your water lilies move me every time.

Placed several unique pieces in beautiful homes, one of which became a print!

More beautiful abstracts found their forever homes, always thrilling for me. Life at home was full with graduations, football games, and a new puppy…because I needed a third dog 🙄.

More abstracts were placed in beautiful homes, and my all time favorite figure. I added to the “Matisse Cutout Series” at Watkins Sydnor, as well as completed a floral abstract for the Pregnancy Care Center auction. On the home front, Caroline wrapped up her junior year at prom. THAT DRESS! I get a lot of inspiration from fashion and that dress was no exception.

Pieces from “The Spirit Within” collection found homes. We were honored to be included in a beautiful show home in Chicago, and we sent our Ella to experience Israel and see for herself the grave is empty. What a month. My sister and her family also moved to Greensboro from Atlanta, probably the greatest blessing of the whole year for me.

Senior pictures brought the reality of our last year with Caroline at home. I created a new series entitled, “Waiting Well” of black ink on paper pieces, inspired by a sermon series at my church. We visited a dear friend and I got to see an abstract piece from years ago, memories! And the dogs were high maintenance.

Enjoyed greeting guests at Watkins Sydnor for a fall AH Art x Watkins Sydnor event. Began work on supplemental pieces to the 2022 “Spirit Within” collection.

Finished up the last details for my solo exhibit with The Gallery at Grandover. This included new collage pieces: layers of oil, paper, canvas, plaster, and wax. Also, Go Hokies!

My solo exhibit was a dream. So. Much. Work. Not just from my team, but from the entire community at The Gallery at Grandover. The opening night dinner was more than I could have asked or imagined, and the closing night was a blast. That exhibit stretched me creatively and the Lord was faithful. We pulled it off!

Several pieces were placed in gorgeous homes including “The Rest She Ministers From”. We are so thankful for the designers we work with who value original art and propose my work to their clients! We wrapped up the year with a whole lot of fun…AH Art Christmas party, dog Santa pictures because the silly parts of life are great memories, our oldest daughter turned 21, and skiing in Park City with friends.

Was every moment of 2023 picture perfect? Absolutely not. But remembering and recording the abundant blessings and all the good, sustains the soul through the hard. Thanks for the memories 2023!
